Sheet metal fabricator wanted

19th Oct 2020

Authentic Designs is seeking an experienced sheet metal fabricator. This is an opportunity to impact how we organize processes behind our entire sheet metal line, and the work is part artisinal fabrication / part engineering.

In addition to sheet metal work, experience with Computer Assisted Design (CAD) is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to relate at least somewhat to the joke about the engineer and the water glass.*

Technical requirements include:

  • ability to breakdown a fixture using CAD to design component parts from a sample, photo, sketch or client cad file and develop flat pattern DXF files for CNC flat blank cutting
  • ability to create nests of common gauge parts and dovetail this understanding into piece part designs to optimize brass and copper sheet utilization
  • some understanding of the tool access and clamping requirements, distortion and drainage considerations to support efficient soft solder assembly
  • preparing process documents to support short run manual setup and sequencing of bending operations in a non-CNC shop environment.

Good communication skills, follow through and a commitment to working with a team is critical.

The ability to provide first piece sample of designs is a plus but not mandatory. Knowledge of bend allowances, DFM methods of incorporating assembly alignment features into part designs is very helpful.

Position is initially part time, although hours may increase with increased volume of work. There is a possibility of remote work once processes and communications are in place, however applicant must live within a roughly one hour commute radius of our shop. Professional references required. Starting salary will be based on prerequisite experience.

Please send responses to jobs @ authenticdesigns.com
